November is Water Quality Month in Tangletown!
FREE Water Quality Forum at Fuller Park – November 1st
Join us Tuesday, November 1st for an evening forum with Leslie Yetka from the Fresh Water Society. Leslie will discuss water quality issues in urban areas and strategies for residents to mitigate their impacts and protect our waterways. The forum takes place at Fuller Park (4800 Grand Ave S) – doors open at 6:30pm and the forum starts at 7:00pm.
Volunteer for Neighborhood Leaf Raking – November 5th
Many of our neighbors struggle to rake their leaves each fall – you can make a huge difference by volunteering on Saturday, November 5th from 12:30-3pm. Grab your rake or leaf blower, meet at Fuller Park (4800 Grand Ave S) to grab a cookie and some hot apple cider, and head out for a fun afternoon. This is a great family service activity and children and youth are very welcome to participate. Sign up as a team or individually and we can assign you to a team. When finished with leaf raking, volunteers are encouraged to enjoy the Water Quality Fair.
For those who have requested help with leaf raking, a team of volunteers will come in the afternoon on Saturday, November 5th.
Water Quality Fair – November 5th
The Water Quality Fair takes place on November 5th from 1:30-4:00pm at Fuller Park. Stop by to play games, talk to water resource specialists, check out interactive exhibits, learn how to protect our water resources through simple home practices, and grab a hot beverage and snacks. Exhibitors from Mississippi Watershed Management Organization, Minnehaha Creek Watershed District, Westwood Consulting, the Master Water Steward Program, the Wetland Health Evaluation Program, Tangletown Neighborhood Association, and City of Minneapolis Adopt-a-Drain program will be present at the fair. This is a FREE event, so please bring friends and family and help make Tangletown the most water-smart community in Minneapolis! There will also be door prizes!
